Whether it’s walking, dancing or playing team sports, leading an active lifestyle is for people of all ages.
Keeping active is particularly important as you age. It can help to maintain a healthy heart and lungs, keep you mobile and flexible and help you manage your weight. It's also a great way to beat stress and meet new people. Active older people are often less isolated and more independent. If you're living with health conditions activity is still recommended. Just talk to a medical professional for advice first. Being active can really help manage long-term conditions.
Research tells us that sitting for long periods is a health risk and sometimes we find ourselves sitting more if we are older or retired. Simply moving more around the home, cleaning, gardening or popping out for short walks helps to keep us well.

All our adult Active for Life sessions are popular with older people and everyone is welcome. We also have some sessions aimed specifically at those over 50.
