The Seafront Office
The Seafront Office is our centre for seafront maintenance, advice about the sea, the lifeguard service in the summer season and sports facilities.
Location and opening times
The Seafront Office is located between the 2 piers on the lower promenade at 141 King's Road Arches, Lower Esplanade, Brighton, BN1 2FN.
We’re open to the public from 9am to 5pm in the low season and 10am to 6pm in the peak season.

Responsibilities
The Seafront Office is responsible for:
- advice and enforcement of the bylaws
- contracting the RNLI lifeguard service
- beach huts and boat lockers
- seafront playgrounds
- seafront maintenance and repairs
- the Bandstand
- seafront sports facilities
The seafront area we cover is from Hove Lagoon through to Saltdean Undercliff. The office is open to the public to seek safety advice, enquire about lost property, and find out how to book seafront facilities.
We can support incidents of lost or found children, and we work closely with the local police on tackling anti-social behaviour.
The Seafront Office also helps with events along the coastline, as well as the upkeep of various council-owned seafront properties.
Find more information on the rules of the seafront and the sea.
Sea safety

First aid
We operate a first-aid post all year round. A lifeguard service managed by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) runs from May to September each year.
The Seafront Officers are First Responders. Each quad bike they use is equipped with an AED (automated external defibrillator), oxygen and a first aid kit to respond to incidents.
In the event of an emergency, phone 999. We have direct links with Solent Coastguard, Brighton RNLI, and all emergency services.
