An exciting new project to re-landscape the north part of Palmeira Square will start in early September 2025 and is due to finish in April 2026.
Working in partnership with the Friends of Palmeira & Adelaide (FOPA), we’re going to deliver an attractive landscape design that will be more suited to contemporary needs and tastes, while reflecting the heritage of the square pre-1953, and celebrating its surrounding architecture and sea views.
A public consultation on the proposals was available to the public from August 2025 to September 2025 through our YourVoice platform, and we have also engaged with key city stakeholders and councillors. There will be further opportunities to view and discuss plans.
The square will be fenced off to the public on 1 September 2025. Work is expected to begin shortly after that.
Information boards will be installed on the fencing, providing further details about the project.
