About Libraries Extra
Libraries Extra members can visit some libraries outside staffed hours, and use some of the services and facilities.
During Libraries Extra hours you can:
- use the self-service kiosks to borrow and return items
- make cash payments through the self-service kiosks
- use the computers and printing facilities
- use the phone helpline
- get help from volunteers on selected days and times
During Libraries Extra hours, we keep a check on the libraries through CCTV and live audio.
If there is an emergency, members can use the intercom to contact our security company.
How to become a Libraries Extra member
To use the Libraries Extra services, you’ll need to upgrade your normal library membership card. You can do this for free at your local library.
You'll need to prove your identity, so please bring 2 items that show your name and address.
You can also prove your identity with 1 item that shows your name and address, and your library card.
We’ll also ask you to agree to the new terms and conditions of membership.
When you can use Libraries Extra
