UEFA Women's EURO 2022
Brighton & Hove has been officially selected as a host city for the UEFA Women's EURO 2022, with games being played at the Brighton & Hove Community Stadium at Falmer.
Brighton & Hove will host Women's EURO
Excitement is building for the tournament which will see England's Lionesses joining 15 other nations, playing 31 matches at venues across the country including 3 at the Brighton & Hove Community Stadium.
UEFA Women's EURO 2022 promises to be the biggest women's football event in UEFA history, deserving of the fresh, open and contemporary look that reflects the strength, diversity and ever-growing popularity of the game.
The Brighton & Hove Community Stadium was chosen as a host city following a bid by:
- Brighton & Hove City Council
- Brighton & Hove Albion FC
- Sussex County Football Association
Originally scheduled for 2021, the tournament was, like UEFA EURO 2020, postponed by a year. This guarantees increased exposure for women's football in a summer without other major football events.
As one of the 9 host cities, Brighton & Hove is planning a programme of fan events in the lead-up to and during the tournament, as well as a legacy programme to improve access to and participation in girls’ and women’s football.
About the host city icon
Our host city icon features The Royal Pavilion in Brighton, an historic landmark which attracts visitors from across the world. Originally built as a seaside palace for King George IV over 200 years ago, The Royal Pavilion also hosted the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup global trophy tour.
