Discover the city's public art

This trail incorporates public artworks around Hove and suits confident cyclists, as well as those walking or using the bus services. It takes approximately 2 hours on foot.

A 'CitySAVER' bus ticket gives unlimited travel for all the routes in this trail. Click on the links for information about individual artworks.

Hove Station Footbridge

Hove train station is one stop from Brighton train station by train. 

If you would prefer to get the bus, go to stop E outside Brighton Station and take the number 7 to George Street, Hove, getting off at Hove station bus stop.

To walk or cycle, exit Brighton train station, turn right on to Terminus Road and continue up the hill on to Buckingham Place. 

At the roundabout take the 3rd exit on to Goldsmid Road, continue straight on to Davigdor Road which then turns in to Cromwell Road. 

Turn right onto Denmark Villas, follow the road around to the left on to Station approach where you will find the light and stencil installation on Hove Station Footbridge.

Fingermaze

Cross over the Hove station footbridge and head straight onto Hove Park Villas, turn left at Old Shoreham Road, cross over at the traffic lights and enter Hove Park. 

Follow the path past the children's playground on your left to the far field where you will see a huge print in the landscape, Fingermaze

Series of Carved Oak Sculptures

From Fingermaze head to the west of Hove Park onto Orchard Road and the grounds of the City Park development where you will find a 'Series of Carved Oak Sculptures'.

Aldi-Sculptural Railings

From the 'Series of Carved Oak Sculptures' at City Park continue to the end of Orchard Road. 

Turn left on to Neville Road and then right on to Old Shoreham Road. Continue straight on Old Shoreham Road, turn left on to Carlton Terrace, cross over, where you will find Aldi-Sculptural Railings.

This part of the trail takes approximately 30 minutes on foot along the main road.

If you would prefer to get a bus, go to Hove Park Tavern bus-stop and take the number 56 bus to Knoll Estate, getting off at Carlton Terrace, (stop F) by Portslade Station.

Cut and Sediment

From 'Aldi-Sculptural Gates and Railings' head south on Boundary Road, turn left on to New Church Road. 

Continue straight on to Church Road past Sackville Road where on the left two sculptures mark the entrance to Connaught Road, Cut' and 'Sediment.

This part of the trail takes approximately 30 minutes on foot.

If you would prefer to catch the bus, go to Carlton Terrace (stop F), take the number 6 to Brighton station and get off at Hove Street bus-stop.

Zipgates

From 'Cut' and 'Sediment' continue straight along Church Road, turn left on to Palmeira Avenue, continue straight over Lansdowne Road where on the right before Cromwell Road you will find Palmeira Mansions and the coloured stripes of the Zipgates.

This part of the trail takes approximately 20 minutes on foot. If you would prefer to take the bus go to Hove Street bus-stop and get any of the following:

Get off at Palmeira Square and walk north on Palmeira Avenue.

Taj Gates

From 'Zipgates' head south on Palmeira Avenue, turn left on to Church Road, continue straight on to Western Road, turn right on to Montpelier Road where on the left you will see the Taj Gates.

This part of the trail takes approximately 10 minutes on foot and takes you back into Brighton. 

If you would prefer to take the bus, go to Palmeira Square bus-stop and get any of the following:

and get off at Waitrose. 

From here you can also take the number 6 bus back to Brighton train station.
