About the role

Brighton and Hove is a vibrant and popular place to live with a much higher than average proportion of privately rented homes, including a significant number of Houses in Multiple Occupation.  We believe that our private rented sector should be well managed and that everyone has the right to live in decent, save accommodation.

We are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated people to join our Private Sector Housing Team, who will share our drive to improve the management, standards and quality of private sector homes in the city.  Experience of dealing with complex problems and the ability to work under pressure is essential.  In return, we can offer flexible working arrangements, a great office location near the sea and excellent terms and conditions including staff discounts on goods and services throughout the city.  We can also offer great self-development and career opportunities through our People Promise commitments.

The team is responsible for delivering HMO licensing under the national mandator scheme and a city-wide additional scheme for HMOs.  We will also be introducing a Selective Licensing Scheme in September as well as dealing with requests for assistance from tenants.

You will have excellent organisational, communication and IT skills and be flexible in response to varying workload demands.

You will have a suitable qualification relevant to the post e.g. HNC or higher in building studies or related discipline or equivalent knowledge and experience relevant to the post.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
