Job introduction

The Empty Property Officer is responsible for bringing empty homes back into use by working with owners of empty properties, monitoring a caseload of properties and returning empty properties to occupation either through negotiation or enforcement.  

Fixed term for 18 months 

This role is available as a secondment to internal applicants in line with our secondment policy.

About the role

Based within the Strategic Housing and Development team, the Empty Property Officer's role is to identify, monitor and bring empty properties in the city back into use.

Working closely with  teams across the council to ensure accurate records are held and managing a caseload of empty properties.

Responding to reports of empty properties, investigating, identifying and contacting owners to determine appropriate action.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.

Working arrangements are subject to Government guidance at the time. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team and travel to and from your contractual location would be at your own expense.
