is looking to appoint a SENDco/DSL/PP/LAC/PLAC Designated Lead Teachers Main scale/upper/SEN point dependent on experience 3.5 days per week – negotiable
The governors of this welcoming and friendly small Catholic school are seeking to appoint a SENDco DSL/PPLAC/PLAC Lead to start ASAP in the New Year.
The successful candidate will be energetic, enthusiastic, passionate about teaching and learning and fully committed to supporting the Catholic ethos of our school.
About the role
The SENCO has an important role to play in determining the strategic development of SEND policy and provision at the school, and in the day-to-day coordination of specific provision that is made to support individual pupils with SEND. They are responsible for providing professional guidance to colleagues and will work closely with staff, parents, and a range of external agencies in providing a support role to families.
They will have the following essential skills: -
- Sound knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and its application.
- Sound knowledge of the graduated approach to providing SEN support.
- Experience of behaviour management techniques for groups and individuals with SEND.
- A good understanding of the principles of school improvement.
- Experience of working effectively with parents to safeguard pupils.
- Evidence of a positive impact on pupil outcomes.
- A good understanding of the principles of school improvement.
- Capable of handling a demanding workload and successfully prioritising work.
- An understanding of the statutory requirements concerning pupil premium funding.
