Job introduction

Nursery Assitants prepared to play all day, feel loved and important to many young children, smile and laugh a lot, are welcome at Tarnerland Nursery School, a not for profit nursery maintained by the Local Authority in partnership with the Council's Children's and Family Services.

Tarnerland has vacancies for:

Nursery Assistants – Scale 4a 

1x 34.5 hours per week, shifts between 8am and 6pm (on a stable rota of 2 long days and 3 short days), Monday - Friday  (the vast majority of staff work these hours) working with 3-4 year olds

1x 30 hours per week, shifts 1-6 Mon, Tues, Weds, 8-1 Thurs and Fri, working with 2-3 year olds   

From £23,194 - £23,620 per annum, (pro rata)

Paid weeks per year: 52

Start date: As soon as possible

About the role

Applicants could/should have:

  • A relevant childcare qualification
  • Experience of working with children under five in an Early Years environment.
  • Good knowledge of the EYFS and practical experience of planning and assessing for children of this age.
  • A proven work ethic, showing ability to sustain commitment. 
  • Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding would be advantageous
  • Experience of working with children who have additional needs would also be preferable

 The role involves:

  • Working as part of a team.
  • Being a Key Person to a group of children.
  • Creatively preparing part of the environment for children’s learning
