Job introduction

Do you enjoy helping people of all backgrounds? Can you communicate sensitively with a wide range of people? Do you want a job that presents different opportunities and challenges every day?

If so, these roles in our friendly Housing Customer Service Team might interest you!

As a Housing Service Adviser you will work in a busy team of enthusiastic people who are great communicators, supporting people with a range of issues through digital, telephone and face to face contact.

For an informal discussion about the role please contact Stephen Wraige, Housing Customer Services Manager, Stephen.Wraige@brighton-hove.gov.uk / 07827 880755 or Kim Giles, Housing Customer Service Team Leader, Kim.Giles@brighton-hove.gov.uk / 01273 293349.

About the role

We are seeking committed, resilient and well organised team players to join our friendly Housing Customer Service Team, delivering a professional, exceptional service to council tenants. You will be the first point of contact for tenants and agencies working with them, providing advice, support and signposting on a wide range of issues.

You will be great at helping people and working under pressure, sensitively supporting customers from all backgrounds and experiences. You will at times discuss difficult issues with customers and to do so supportively and empathically. The ability to work accurately and to keep good written records is paramount. Ideally you will have previous customer service experience but training in this will be given and continuous professional and personal development is available.

This is an exciting time to work in Housing. Upcoming changes in legislation mean that local authorities will be expected to work and engage with their tenants in different ways and there will be opportunity for you to contribute to this.

You will be given a comprehensive induction to the role, where you will be fully supported by existing team and taught everything you need to do the role.

Currently most staff are working from home, and at present all of our contact with customers is digital or on the phone. We are currently looking at future working arrangements, and in the future the role will involve both home working and attendance at the office on occasion.

We are constantly adapting our communication styles, providing wider digital options to make our service more accessible to everybody.
