Parking Services has an essential role in the Councils commitment to become carbon neutral by 2030. This is a vital position in delivering an effective electric vehicle charging service to the city’s residents, visitors and businesses. You will be joining a team who already have been successful in being awarded over £1m of funding for electric vehicle charging points and have successfully installed 100’s of electric charging points.    

About the role

This is a brand-new role, initially funded by central government’s LEVI fund. Training and support will be given to the successful candidate. More information can be found here Apply for Local EV Infrastructure (LEVI) funding - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

You will use your project management skills to deliver a programme of electric vehicle charging point installations. You will use your ability to understand and implement technical specifications and understanding of civil works on the public highway. This is to ensure we are compliant with regulations and aligned with the aspirations local political and national strategy. 

You will regularly use your excellent communication skills to

  • promote benefits of the project to the public, including at public meetings.
  • write reports and deliver presentations.
  • consult with a wide range users or future users.
  • work with contractors to deliver the installation of charging points.
  • connect with external partners such as neighbouring authorities, external stakeholders and grant providers.
  • Coordinate works with charge point operators and UK Power Network. 
  • Internal stakeholders such as elected members and transport officers.

With a keen eye for detail and good understanding of how the power network operates, you will be able to work independently and flexibility with a problem solving and focused on delivery approach to work.

This is a permanent position.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
