Are you interested in helping young people develop their skills in English? Can you play a role in supporting young people’s well-being and progress during an unprecedented challenge for schools under COVID-19?

Patcham High School is looking to appoint an English Coach to join the team from September 2022 to work alongside our students both in class and in small groups. Student groups may consist of KS3 or KS4 students. The post is initially in place until the end of the academic year, ending 31st August 2023, with the possibility of an extension of contract for the following academic year.

Patcham High School is an 11 – 16 comprehensive school situated on the northern outskirts of Brighton, very close to the old village of Patcham and within easy reach of the A23 and A27.   The school is successful and rapidly improving, and aims to become outstanding.  It is known for its innovative approach and values professional development very highly.

About the role

This opportunity may well appeal to candidates who wish to experience working in a school environment with a view to pursuing a career in education or to candidates who already have QTS but are looking for a change of direction.  Coaches who decide to embark on this route will be supported in their applications for PGCE and Schools Direct training courses. 

The hours of work are 37 per week, 8.00am - 4.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.00am to 3.30pm on Friday on a term time only contract, and will be paid for 47.15 weeks per year.

The salary is LGA Scale 5 Point 12 -17 currently £22,571 - £24,920 full time equivalent.  The pro rata salary range is £20,465-£22,595 per annum.  The actual starting salary for the successful candidates will be £20,465 per annum.
