Job introduction

This is a key role in the Housing Investment & Asset Management Service leading on the establishment, delivery and management of a wide range of renewable and energy efficiency projects for the Council's own housing stock.

The post holder will support and assist the delivery of the Corporate Plan, Carbon Neutral 2030 & Circular Economy ambitions, Housing Strategy, and Fuel Poverty & Affordable Warmth Strategy.

About the role

Do you want to improve housing quality, reduce carbon emissions and residents energy bills? Do you have experience in delivering projects and working with a range of stakeholders? Would you like the opportunity to develop and deliver energy efficiency and renewable energy projects?

If so, we welcome your application to join the Housing Sustainability & Energy Team as an Energy Projects Manager.

You will be responsible for the scoping out, development and delivery of a range of projects within the housing service, with the aim of:

- improving the energy efficiency of our housing stock

- reducing carbon emissions

- reducing residents energy bills where possible and tackling fuel poverty

You will be part of the Housing Investment & Asset Management Service which delivers a wide range of projects across asset management, sustainability and energy, mechanical & electrical and planned and major capital works for our housing stock of approximately 12,500 properties.

The aim of the service is to focus on improving housing quality and supply, achieving carbon reductions, improving the services and living conditions of our residents and reducing homelessness across the city.

We are looking for a hard working and organised individual who has:

- knowledge and understanding of a range of domestic energy related issues 

- the willingness to work collaboratively in a team and with a range of stakeholders

- experience of project and contract management

- the ability to develop and manage programmes of work

- experience of financial monitoring

- an understanding of issues relating to fuel poverty and affordable warmth

You will be required to undertake a lead role in the development and delivery of a range of projects ensuring good links with the Repairs and Maintenance service and planned and major works investment programmes. All programmes will be delivered in line with the council’s Housing Asset Management Strategy and corporate objectives.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
