Job introduction

Project Managers

We are looking for experienced Project Managers to join the council’s Corporate Programme Management Office (CPMO). The CPMO oversees the council’s Modernisation portfolio of programmes, projects and service reviews to bring about improvements and efficiency, and directly manages a number of these areas of work. The team is the council’s ‘Centre of Excellence’ for these activities and alongside setting standards, supports colleagues across the organisation with advice, coaching, quality assurance and training.

About the role

As we value the diversity of our city and seek a workforce that is reflective of it, we are looking for people from a range of backgrounds who can bring skills and experience, along with a passion for improving public services. Our programmes, projects and reviews vary from improvements to our adults and children’s social care services, to introducing new ways of working, to the city’s response and recovery from the pandemic. We need people who thrive when working in a changing environment and who enjoy a challenge!

We are looking for: Project Managers (3 x permanent contracts) to work on a variety of projects and reviews in our CPMO.

All posts will be line managed within the CPMO and benefit from the expertise and peer support of other Programme and Project Managers who are leading the Modernisation of the organisation.

We welcome staff who wish to work flexibly. At the moment, our team are working from home and the office. In the future, the role may involve a mix of home and office-based work but this depends on the team and service need.

The closing date for applications by CV and statement is 21 January 2022.

Interviews will be held during the week of 7 February 2022.

If you wish to discuss the roles, please contact kat.brett@brighton-hove.gov.uk.

As part of your application, you will need to upload your CV and a supporting statement. Your supporting statement is the most important part of your application as it will be used in the shortlisting process to assess whether you meet the essential requirements for the role that are set out in the person specification and to decide whether you should be offered an interview. Before you start your application, please read our guidance here (CV guidance (brighton-hove.gov.uk) and Supporting statement guidance (brighton-hove.gov.uk)) as this gives important advice which will increase your chance of success in the shortlisting process.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.

Work Permits: We may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) Points-based Immigration System. Please see Gov.uk for more information on the Skilled Worker Visa.
