Job introduction

We are looking to recruit a Project Manager to work in our Seafront team.  The role offers an exciting opportunity to work with colleagues, partners and stakeholders to deliver an ambitious and transformational project on the seafront.  The city already receives 12 million visitors a year and the seafront is one of the most visited in the UK but we’re about to make it even better and we need you to help us achieve this.

About the role

The £11m project funded by the Levelling Up Fund is an integrated proposal that has been developed by Brighton and Hove City Council with local community organisations to regenerate an underused area of West Hove seafront. The scheme will provide enhanced leisure and sporting facilities for local residents and will also attract visitors to a part of the seafront beyond the city’s traditional tourist ‘hotspots.’ Once completed, the project will transform a highly visible and substantial community asset, providing facilities in line with current and future expectations. The intervention will deliver significant remodelling and landscaping of the public space across a 1.5km seafront site, as well as the rejuvenation of the urban realm.

The project is high profile with significant community involvement and is currently in the design stage.  You will help to shape the project and guide colleagues, partners contractors and the community through the design and delivery stages, through to completion and evaluation.  You will ensure the council’s values, aims and objectives are embedded and the community aspirations are realised.

There's a lot to do and the timescales are tight. We need someone with exceptional administrative and organisation skills, who is comfortable working in a complex political and community environment, is an influential communicator and has a proven track-record of providing excellent project management.  You will have a degree or similar management qualification and be an accredited PRINCE2 practitioner or hold a comparable project management qualification or equivalent demonstrable project management experience.

If this is you then we would love to hear from you.

Fixed term for:  36 months

Interview date: TBC

For an informal discussion, please contact Toni Manuel - Seafront Development Manager on 01273 290394

As part of your application, you will need to complete your education and work history and provide answers to some shortlisting questions. Your answers to the shortlisting questions are the most important part of your application as they will be used in the shortlisting process to assess whether you meet the essential requirements for the role that are set out in the person specification and to decide whether you should be offered an interview. Before you start your application, please read our guidance here (Shortlisting questions guidance (brighton-hove.gov.uk)) as this gives important advice which will increase your chance of success in the shortlisting process.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
