About the role

As either a Senior Social Worker or a Social Worker you will be undertaking Kinship Care Assessments for the Courts for potential Special Guardianship Orders for children subject to Care Proceedings and the Public Law Outline.

The work includes assessments for the courts, supervision of Regulation 24 / Fully Approved Kinship Care Fostering Placements and support for the SGO/CAO/fostering placements Post Order.

You will undertake a range of statutory duties within the Fostering Placements and Permanence Service in accordance with the Children Act 1989.  Working Together to Safeguard Children, Every Child Matters guidance, National Care Standards Act 2000, National Minimum Standards 2011, Adoption and Children Act 2002 and associated regulation and guidance.  You will also provide support and supervision for placements Post Order for SGO Carers.

Workers are accountable to the Kinship Care Pod Manager through the framework of supervision for work with prospective and approved Kinship Foster Carers and / or permanent Special Guardians. 

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold a professional Social Work Qualification and be registered with Social Work England.
  • Have experience of writing complex Court Reports relating to Care Proceedings for children and young people.
  • Be able to demonstrate working in a trauma informed, relationship based and anti racist way.
  • Be responsible for managing their own caseload autonomously with the support of their Pod Manager
  • Have good knowledge, skills and experience of statutory roles and responsibilities within Children's Services and Care Proceedings.

Our Pod model is based on providing emotional containment for social workers, and we have fortnightly group supervision, 1:1 supervision and Reflective Practice Groups for practitioners and managers at every level.

We offer a salary within the range £37,024 to £40,213 for social workers and £41,537 to £44,865 for senior social workers, both these ranges include a 12.5% market supplement (Social Worker base salary - £32,910 to £35,745 / Senior Social Worker base salary - £36,922 to £39,880).

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
