We have an exciting role available as part of an expanding team, in a newly formed and developing Transport Control Centre. You will be making a real difference to the transport network in the city by maintaining the parking facilities and equipment, working across the city at various car parks, sites, and on-street.

About the role
You will work as part of a team of Maintenance Technicians reporting to the Maintenance Team Leaders. You will be required to drive around the city to various sites to carry out inspections and maintenance including to car parks and on-street. You will work to a set pattern over the 7-day week operation including some weekend working. Additional payments are made for weekend and Bank Holiday working. You will work closely with other teams and contractors to ensure the City’s parking network is functioning well. You will be responsible for maintaining the City’s parking assets which includes car park control, electric vehicle charging and payment equipment.
You will be responsible for maintaining a number of different parking equipment. You will be required to investigate, report, mitigate and escalate identified risks as appropriate. Your interest in maintaining buildings and mechanical equipment and having a keen eye for detail, will motivate you to find what is causing a fault and help you develop an understanding of the equipment you maintain.
You will be required to remain flexible in your role as you will be required carry out reactive works as well as maintenance and refurbishments. The ability to prioritise and follow instructions as directed is needed. You are confident speaking with technical experts and contractors and be able to consider the financial and health and safety implications. Using your knowledge and experience of compliance regulations and legislation you will be confident making independent decisions and have a calm and methodical approach to your work.
You will be able to understand how the city works and the pressures on the parking assets from different users. You will assist in the delivery of a first class, customer focused operation by ensuring the parking assets are safe and friendly to use.
You will be confident working in a technical environment where emerging technology is used to manage and maintain and promote the council’s carbon neutral strategy. You will be committed to ensuring you are trained and up to date with new initiatives and equipment maintenance practices to ensure the skills required to do the job well are developed in house.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
