This is a new and exciting role, in a newly formed and developing Transport Control Centre. You will be making a real difference to the transport network in the city by supporting a team of officers who are monitoring the city transport network in real time, identifying incidents around the city and making use of various data streams including CCTV.

About the role

You will be 1 of 3 Team Leaders, reporting to the Transport Monitoring Manager. Working in the Transport Control Centre, which is a 24/7 multidisciplined service, and the communications hub for Brighton & Hove’s City Transport Service. Your role will directly line manage a team of officers working a shift pattern covering a 24/7 operation.  You will work closely with other teams within the Centre and will contribute to the accurate communication between the teams.

No two days will be the same, there could be an incident on the transport network which requires a diversion to be put in place or you could be required to support with planning for a large event. You will be in regular contact with stakeholders and internal teams. Using your understanding of  compliance regulations and legislation you will be confident making independent decisions, have a good understanding of incident management, knowing who and when to escalate or refer information to.   

You will be committed in continuously improving your understanding of the pressures from different users on the transport network whilst considering the councils carbon neutrality strategy. You will support in delivering a first class, customer focused operation by communicating with a wide range of transport users on changes to the network including pedestrians, users of car park, cycles, buses, taxis and private vehicles.

You will be confident working in a highly technical environment where emerging technology is used to manage and collect a variety of data to understand what is happening around the city both in real time.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
