This is a new and exciting role, as part of the management team in the newly formed and developing Transport Control Centre. Using your technical experience, you will be leading a maintenance team to ensure Brighton & Hove’s parking assets are maintained through detailed life care planning. You will be competent at managing large budgets from day-to-day maintenance to large refurbishment with multiple contracts.

About the role

Based in the Transport Control Centre in Hove Town Hall, you will be managing a 7 day a week team working around the city. Your role will directly line manage 2 team leaders with 6 Maintenance Technicians working a shift pattern covering a 7-day operation. You will work closely with other teams within the Centre and will be responsible for maintaining the City’s parking assets which includes car park control,  electric vehicle charging and payment equipment.

The team will be responsible for maintaining a number of different parking assets to contribute to Council’s carbon neutral strategy. You will be a key officer in identifying areas for improvement, modernisation and environmental and financial efficiencies.  Using your risk management experience, you will consider potential implications into every decision. You will be expected to report, mitigate and escalate identified risks as appropriate.  

You will have relevant experience of maintaining industrial structures and able to both react and plan in detail maintenance requirements and refurbishments. You confident speaking with technical experts and understanding the financial and health and safety implications. Using your knowledge and experience of compliance regulations and legislation you will be confident making independent decisions and have a calm and methodical approach to your work.

You will be able to understand how the city works and the pressures on the parking assets from different users. You will deliver a first class, customer focused operation by ensuring the parking assets are safe and friendly to use.

You will be confident working in a highly technical environment where emerging technology is used to manage and maintain and promote the council’s carbon neutral strategy.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
