About the role

Schools ICT (IT & Digital) are excited to be offering an excellent opportunity for a 1st Line Local Support Technician role within our ever growing, friendly and hardworking team. Primarily supporting our customers onsite, you will require a broad spectrum of knowledge, friendly can-do attitude and the ability to work in a team. Together we will ensure our customers benefit from an effective, efficient and professional ICT support service through onsite customer support visits, as well as using a variety of remote technologies when working from our Service Desk.

A large element of this job is building professional relationships and delivering high quality customer service. You will be liaising regularly with customers, working closely with fellow team members and organising your workload to provide a rich experience for our customers. Naturally, you will need proven ICT skills, but equally important is the ability to communicate well at all levels.

We operate in a mostly Microsoft Windows environment, but cover anything from Desktop Support, Basic Networking, Audio/Visual, Software Installation, iPads, Maintenance and Monitoring. This includes working with Apple Mac and Chrome devices. You will also need working knowledge of basic server functions such as Active Directory and Group Policy.

Microsoft/Google Certifications and experience in an ITIL environment are desirable, but not essential.

Our customers are all different types of Public Sector organisations and charities. The vast majority are within the Education sector. This role involves frequent daily travel in rural and urban areas across the Orbis operating area (Primarily within East Sussex), supporting our school-based customers. Typically you will be assigned a group of customer sites to support and regularly visit. However, travelling to support other customers and colleagues for larger projects and major incidents will also be required. We have customers throughout East Sussex and bordering counties and therefore welcome applicants from this broad geography.

Applicants must clearly demonstrate how they will meet the travel requirements of the post. Local Support Technicians travel in their own vehicle and are reimbursed at the standard council "per mile" rate.

Further details about the role can be found in the listed job description.

Please Note: It is vital upon application to ensure a detailed response is submitted showing how you meet the essential and desirable criteria as specified in the attached "Job Description and Person Specification". We also strongly advise to upload your most recent CV.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
