About the role

The Recruitment Team support hiring managers across East Sussex County Council process more than 1000 internal and external hires per year for a diverse variety of roles ranging from Apprentice to Chief Executive. We are the largest employer in East Sussex and have a team of people whose aim is to help support hiring managers recruit the right people for the right job efficiently and safely.

Our team of Personnel Assistants are responsible for creating contracts, collecting pre-employment checks (e.g. references, qualifications and relevant safeguarding checks) and ensuring that new starters are set up on our payroll system (SAP). This is done whilst keeping managers and candidates well informed and updated on the progress of their checks so that start dates can be agreed within our SLAs.

This role gives great opportunity and insight into a wide range of Recruitment and HR scenarios and is a fantastic role for someone looking to launch a career in these settings.

We have a fixed-term vacancy to fill and we are excited at the prospect of a new colleague joining our busy and friendly team, helping us to continue delivering first class administration and customer service.

You may be pleased to know, it is not essential to have any prior experience of working in Recruitment (don’t worry!) however, you will need to be a good communicator and take pride in the work you do. You cannot be afraid to get on the phones to keep candidates and hiring managers updated on how pre-employment checks are progressing whilst chasing required information. Managing a high case load of appointed candidates and working to monthly payroll deadlines means it is also essential that you are able to focus and prioritise work whilst keeping an eye on attention to detail when making contracts and setting candidates up on payroll.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.

Due to the restrictions we cannot guarantee that individuals that meet the requirements of the Points-based Immigration System will be issued with clearance to obtain work permits.
