This is a new and exciting role, in a newly formed and developing Transport Control Centre. You will be making a real difference to the transport network in the city by anticipating and identifying incidents around the city making use of various data streams including CCTV. Your job will be to keep the city moving by responding to the incident and communicating with a wide range of services and users.

About the role
You will be managing a 24/7 multi disciplined Transport Control Centre which is the communications hub for Brighton & Hove’s City Transport Service. Your role will directly line manage three team leaders with 11 Officers working a shift pattern covering a 24/7 operation. You will work closely with other teams within the Centre and will be responsible for the accurate communication between the teams.
No two days will be the same, there could be an incident on the transport network which requires a diversion to be put in place or planning for a large event. You will be in regular contact with the emergency services and other stakeholders such a bus companies and event organisers. Using your knowledge and experience of compliance regulations and legislation you will be confident making independent decisions and have a calm and methodical approach to your incident management.
Using your understanding of the pressures from different users on the transport network whilst considering the councils carbon neutrality strategy. You will deliver a first class, customer focused operation by communicating with a wide range of transport users on changes to the network including pedestrians, users of car park, cycles, buses, taxis and private vehicles.
You will be confident working in a highly technical environment where emerging technology is used to manage and collect a variety of data to understand what is happening around the city both in real time and to reflect on post incident analysis and impact assessment to improve future decision making and planning.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
