Why work for us (brighton-hove.gov.uk)

About the role

We are looking to recruit a Senior Commercial Property Estates Surveyor to support the council’s extensive and diverse commercial property portfolios including commercial property investments, operational buildings, agricultural land and development/regen sites; covering all industry sectors from multi let city centre offices, high street retail and industrial warehousing to leisure, residential, health, community and 10,000 acres of farmland.

In addition, the role will provide strategic property advice across all council services, assisting with delivery plans that require proactive asset management of operational buildings.

The role offers a genuinely varied, interesting and diverse workload, working with colleagues and consultants to deliver effective management of the portfolios, to meet the aims of the Corporate Asset Plan and support the local economy and community.

As the successful candidate you will have experience of communicating and influencing at a senior level to manage strategically and creatively the council’s extensive commercial property portfolio, to ensure the council’s land and building assets are delivering the best outcomes for the city and its residents.

There's a lot to do, and we need someone who is passionate about making change happen, is comfortable working in a complex political environment, has a proven track record of strategic property management.  You will have a RICS membership and an enthusiasm for the role of property in fulfilling wider strategic aims.

If this is you then we would love to hear from you.   Your application should include your cv and a supporting statement detailing your experience and technical expertise in commercial property asset management including disposals and acquisitions, landlord and tenant and valuation.  For further information, please contact Jessica Hamilton, Head of Estates, jessica.hamilton@brighton-hove.gov.uk

As part of your application, you will need to upload your CV and a supporting statement. Your supporting statement is the most important part of your application as it will be used in the shortlisting process to assess whether you meet the essential requirements for the role that are set out in the person specification and to decide whether you should be offered an interview. Before you start your application, please read our guidance here (CV guidance (brighton-hove.gov.uk) and Supporting statement guidance (brighton-hove.gov.uk)) as this gives important advice which will increase your chance of success in the shortlisting process.
