Job introduction

The Brighton Centre is looking for Show Control Security Staff to join their busy front of house team.

From August 2021 The Brighton Centre will be opening its doors again to a diary full of concerts, conferences, sporting events and exhibitions.

We are therefore seeking additional enthusiastic individuals to provide our visitors with excellent customer care during their visit and to provide a security and crowd management function for the Brighton Centre during concerts and other public events in order to ensure the safety and well being of clients and customers.

About the role

The Brighton Centre is an internationally known venue of considerable scale; it hosts conferences, events, exhibitions, meetings, festivals and concerts with a capacity of up to 5,500. The Brighton Centre sells in the region of 250,000 tickets per annum for its live entertainment programme consisting of approximately 90 live performances and holds on average 20 major conventions per year, amounting to a combined total of approximately 255 occupied event days per annum. This contributes to an annual economic impact to the City of Brighton & Hove of circa £1bn per annum, contributing to 18,000 jobs in the local area.

You will provide a security and crowd management function for Brighton Centre during concerts and other public events in order to ensure the safety and well being of clients and customers.

Brighton Centre - Casual Venue Show Control

  • Guard venue exits to control and supervise access to the building using ticket scanning equipment and remain vigilant at all times.
  • As requested, to undertake body searches and bag searches under the direction of venues managers and Casual Venues Show Control Supervisor.
  • To resolve any disputes between customers in a efficient, effective and safe manner, considering customer care at all times and within industry standards and guidelines.
  • To offer assistance and advice to customers who may be behaving in an inconsiderate way to other customers. Where necessary to detain any individuals pending arrival of the police and where appropriate and requested by the House & Events Manager of the venue, to exercise the venue’s right to eject individuals in a safe and appropriate manner.

Working Pattern: This casual role has no set hours. Shifts consist of daytime, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.

Work Permits: This role does not meet the requirement for UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) Points-based Immigration System. Successful candidates will need to evidence that they have the Right to Work in the UK.
