Job introduction

We are recruiting additional Stewards to join our busy front of house team of Venue Stewards.

From August 2021 The Brighton Centre will be opening its doors once again to a diary full of concerts, conferences, sporting events and exhibitions.

We are therefore seeking additional enthusiastic individuals to provide our visitors with excellent customer care during their visit.

Stewards are the first point of contact for visitors and users of the venues and create a welcoming presence. You will need to become familiar with seating configurations relating to each event held so you can direct and assist visitors to their specific seating allocations, while ensuring their safety at all times.You should have previous customer service experience, excellent communication skills, be able to work alone or as part of a team.

About the role

The Brighton Centre is an internationally known venue of considerable scale; it hosts conferences, events, exhibitions, meetings, festivals and concerts with a capacity of up to 5,500. The Brighton Centre sells in the region of 250,000 tickets per annum for its live entertainment programme consisting of approximately 90 live performances and holds on average 20 major conventions per year, amounting to a combined total of approximately 255 occupied event days per annum. This contributes to an annual economic impact to the City of Brighton & Hove of circa £1bn per annum, contributing to 18,000 jobs in the local area.

You will direct and help visitors to the venue in all matters pertaining to concerts, conferences, exhibitions and meetings in terms of crowd management.

Brighton Centre - Casual Venue Steward

• Assist venue Managers in effecting any emergency evacuations from the venues by directing persons in the venue to designated exits.
• To assist any visitors to the venues with any special access requirements with regard to both egress and access to the venue including specific training on evacuation equipment.
• To guard exits / doors during event preparation and break down days ensuring the security of the venue and event is maintained.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of members of the wider community

Working Pattern: This casual role has no set hours. Shifts consist of daytime, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

Interview date: w/c 28th June but shortlisting and interviews are to be carried out on a frequent basis after this date if the headcount is not full so please put in an application asap if applying after this date. If successful, you will be required to attend a training session on 18th and 19th Aug.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.

Work Permits: This role does not meet the requirement for UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) Points-based Immigration System. Successful candidates will need to evidence that they have the Right to Work in the UK.
