Job introduction

We’re appointing a new role of Pre-employment Coordinator that will work within the Employment and Skills Team. The role will lead on managing a range of pre-employment opportunities across council directorates designed to build confidence and aspirations, support skills development and underpin people’s well-being as they continue their learning journey to improve their opportunities for future employment.

Fixed term for: 24 months We would be happy to consider anyone who would like to apply on the basis of a secondment from their substantive job.  If you would like to apply on the basis of a secondment please get the agreement from your manager before applying.

Interview date: Week commencing 28 June (date to be confirmed)

About the role

The post holder will develop and implement the Supported Placement Programme and Pre-employment Policy across the council in order increase the number of opportunities (Kickstarts, Traineeships, T Levels, work experience, experience of the world of work, supported internships and paid placements) offered by council teams and improve access to opportunities for specific priority groups (Looked after children, care leavers, young people with SEND, young people at risk of being NEET, clients supported by the Supported Employment Team, other protected groups who are under-represented in the council workforce).

This activity contributes to our Fair and Inclusive action plan ‘developing an inclusive workforce & outreach strategy to raise employer brand and engage applicants from diverse communities across the city’.

The person specification details the experience, skills and knowledge required, which includes an awareness of the pre-employment landscape, experience of stakeholder and relationship management, and organisational and project co-ordination skills. You will work with a friendly, talented, hard-working team who have experienced rapid change over the past year. This role will work closely with the Apprenticeship Team, be based remotely and across multiple sites in the city. This is an exciting time to join the team!
