Deputy Headteacher (SENCO/Inclusion) REQUIRED FOR JANUARY 2021

Peacehaven Heights Primary School & Nursery is situated on the coast about 6 miles east of Brighton and is one of three primary schools in the area that are all PFI schools. This rapidly improving school currently has an Interim Executive Board (IEB) in place to provide expertise, support and capacity to the school.

Peacehaven Heights is larger than average with a Nursery in house, it is a split site school and is two form entry. The school is very popular with very few spare places throughout. Currently on roll there are approximately 420 pupils including Nursery.

Our pupils are delightful, behave well and are excited about their learning. We have designated Beach School status, which supports learning outside the classroom and encourages our pupils to demonstrate our core values of resilience, respect, courage and compassion.

About the role

We are seeking a committed and driven individual to be our SENCO across both sites. The successful candidate will ensure a high quality, effective day-to-day provision for SEND and other vulnerable pupils. The successful candidate will provide outstanding practice across the school with regards to SEND co-ordination for pupils and vulnerable learners. They will ensure that there is a culture of high expectations for SEND pupils and that their needs are met to enable them to meet their full potential through high quality provision.

As a Deputy Headteacher, the successful candidate will work closely with the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher (Curriculum) on all aspects of school improvement.

• The successful candidate will have previous experience as a SENCO or Inclusion Manager and will:
• Share responsibility for the day-to-day running of the school as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
• Promote the positive ethos of the school, fostering a welcoming, lively, safe and effective learning environment.
• To assist in the promotion, direction and oversight of high standards of teaching and learning, pupil achievement and progression through effective inclusion for pupils with special educational needs.
• Inspire and motivate colleagues and contribute to the to the professional development of all members of the school community.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
