We may prompt you to apply for a selective licence if we find that you should have one but haven't applied. You'll have to pay the prompted fee if we do this.
Discounted fees are not available when prompted fees apply.

Where a single discount applies, the standard licence fee - £690 reduces to £615.
A maximum of 2 discounts can only apply (£150 maximum).

Where a double discount applies, the standard licence fee - £690 reduces to £540.
Available for when there are multiple flats in the same block and all under the same ownership or management. In addition, the total number of flats and each one of them must apply to the same licence holder.
From the second flat onwards, a £50 discounted licence fee is applicable.
A further single licence fee discount of £75 is available, from the second flat onwards, if required criteria is met.
A double licence discount is not available for the multi-dwelling licence fee.
This scheme is for HMOs of 2 or more storeys with 3 or 4 unrelated occupiers. The scheme started on 1 July 2024. From 1 July 2024, you can make applications for licences online.

A landlord or managing agent can apply for a temporary exemption notice (TEN) when they are:
You do not need a TEN if your property is empty and unoccupied.
The issuing of a TEN is at the discretion of the council. There are limited reasons why we would allow a TEN.
When issued, a TEN usually lasts three months. It can be extended by 3 months in certain circumstances on request. A TEN can be issued for a maximum of 6 months.
