Who can apply for the decorating pack scheme

To apply for the decorating pack scheme you must either be:

• over 70 years old
• currently receiving disability living allowance
• currently receiving Personal Independence Payment and Housing Benefit
• currently receiving Attendance Allowance and Housing Benefit

You must also:

• have no rent arrears or current legal notices against your tenancy
• not be the process of buying your council property under the Right to Buy
• not have a room decorated or have received decorating vouchers or a decorating pack during the last financial year
• have no non-disabled occupants in the property

What information you will need to apply for the decorating pack scheme

To apply for the decorating pack scheme you must provide:

• your address and contact details
• proof that you meet the eligibility criteria
• the name of the joint tenant (if there is one)
• which room you want to decorate 

What you get from the decorating pack scheme

If you are accepted onto the decorating pack scheme, you will be eligible for one decorating pack containing the materials you need to decorate an average sized room. 

You can apply for a pack to decorate one room every 2 years (subject to availability and assessment), but we will not accept applications for the same room to be decorated within a 10 year period. 

What you agree to by applying for the decorating pack scheme

By submitting this form you are agreeing that:

• you have read the information on this page and are eligible to apply
• you consent to a council officer inspecting your home to confirm the use of any materials supplied.
• If you have given false information, you understand you will be removed from the scheme immediately and may be liable for any costs incurred to the council for the work or materials provided.
• If accepted onto the decorating pack scheme, you consent to Brighton & Hove City Council giving Brewers Decorator Centres your name and address, so that a decorating pack can be issued

How to apply

There are 2 ways to apply for materials to decorate your home.

You can:

• log into your Housing Online account
• complete our online form

Log in to your Housing Online account

Log in to your account to apply for decorating materials for your home. This is the fastest way to get a response. You can view the response directly in your account as well as view permission letters.  

Housing online is not connected to MyAccount. If you don't have an account, register using your ‘party reference’ or ‘payment reference’.
