What we've done to improve the safety of our large panel system blocks
Find out what actions we have taken to ensure our large panel system blocks are safe
Action we've taken so far
We've introduced a ban on e-bikes and e-scooters in the buildings. We have installed secure storage with a power supply at each site. Residents must use these to store e-bikes and e-scooters.
We insure the building, but it’s a tenant responsibility to insure their home contents and personal belongings.
We've put extra security staff in place to:
- carry out daily floor walks to maintain clear entrances and exit ways
- make sure items like gas cylinders and e-bikes are not brought into the building
- monitor and take action where needed to reduce any identified risk, including:
- stopping vehicles parking in a restricted area
- highlighting the issues with smoking in communal ways
- deterring unwanted visitors
We've installed a temporary communal heating system at St James’s House, away from the building.
We've worked with Environmental Services to move bin stores under or within the blocks and make the new areas safe for residents to use.
We’ve also visited all homes in the blocks to check for any risks and respond to any concerns you may have. This includes following up issues residents raised with us.
We're continuing to work with the fire service and consultants on the measures we’re taking.
