What you're responsible for
As a council tenant, you need to make sure your home and garden are kept safe, clean and free from rubbish.
You're normally responsible for repairs to:
- battery operated smoke detectors
- clothes lines and rotary driers
- cookers
- internal decoration
- internal doors
- fencing
- floor coverings
- home contents insurance
- keys
- utilities like gas, electricity and water
- pest control in your home

You may be charged for repairs we have to carry out because of damage you have caused.
What we're responsible for
As your landlord, we're normally responsible for repairs to:
- aerials
- central heating
- chimneys
- external doors
- drains and gutters
- electrical fittings
- flooring and walls
- garages
- garden paths
- lifts and stairs
- pipes, water tanks and cylinders
- plumbing and fittings
- roofing
- windows
- pest control in communal areas
