Brighton & Hove City Council are pleased to announce the free Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme funded by the Department for Education.

HAF is for children aged 4 to 16 who are in a full-time school place and receive Free School Meals. Children and young people will be able to enjoy a programme of enriching activities, as well as have a free, nutritional meal as part of the HAF.

Easter 2021

The Easter 2021 HAF programme in Brighton & Hove is being run as a pilot because of the short time available to plan. This means that not all eligible children and young people will be able to enjoy the HAF programme in April, and hours, days and locations will vary.

However, we are aiming to reach as many children and young people as possible, and will also ensure that there is provision for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

HAF will be on offer for four hours a day and for four days a week in the summer and Christmas holidays.

What HAF provides

  • Healthy and nutritious meals for all children attending
  • A wide range of fun and enriching activities
  • Education around healthy eating and preparing food
  • Information and advice for parents and carers
  • A safe space for children to interreact with others
