Our Mockingbird launch

Learn more about the launch of our first constellation community.

‘We are excited about this new pilot and believe it will play a key role in normalising foster care for our young people and will also strengthen the bonds within the fostering community.

We will be there to offer support in many ways, whether it’s helping with school runs, arranging sleepovers, or simply lending a hand as families naturally do for one another.

We are thrilled to announce that we now have a full constellation of Foster Carers joining us on our journey into the Mockingbird World of Fostering, consisting of 9 families.

For those who may not be familiar, the Mockingbird model is all about creating an extended family-like support system. Within our constellation, we will work closely together to provide a strong, nurturing environment for all our young people.’
- Liz, and Martin - Hub Home Carers
'So far, being part of Mockingbird has exceeded my expectations. Our Hub Home carers jumped straight in with the offer of help when one of my girls got Norovirus. They did the school run with the other child, leaving me free to nurse my patient at home. Then, when I caught it, they stepped in and looked after both girls overnight, leaving me free to concentrate on getting better. We have lots of Mockingbird events planned throughout the year and so far, Mockingbird has been fantastic for both my girls and me. I would definitely recommend it to all foster carers & my only criticism is not having it sooner.'
'I can’t thank Liz enough for the help she has given over the past few weeks. Mockingbird is amazing'
'Firstly, I feel privileged to be a part of the first Mockingbird programme in Brighton and Hove. The experience so far has been very positive. A group of people working together for the good of young people in care and sharing experiences and supporting other foster carers.'
