Brighton & Hove Children’s Centres - changes to service due to Coronavirus (Covid-19)
Service update 21 April 2021
Our Children’s Centres are now partially open for midwifery appointments, and some face to face booked appointments with speech therapists and the Healthy Child Programme teams.
Due to the Covid -19 pandemic many more families need our help. The Healthy Child Programme and Children’s Centre teams need to make sure that that we prioritise the families in most need at this time. We also need to make sure that all families see a health visitor or community nursery nurse either face to face or by telephone or digital contact at certain times before their child starts school. This means that we cannot fully open all our services as they were before the pandemic.
We will be starting some small invitation only groups in May and June, but are unable to resume our larger universal groups until further notice.
We continue to offer family support and parenting advice by telephone or digital contact only.
If you need help with any aspect of parenting and family life please text the Healthy Child Programme Parent Line on 07507331296. There is someone available each day from 9:30am to 3:30pm. Health Visitors may then be able to refer to the Children’s Centre team for support with things such as:
- sleep routines and behaviour
- home learning
- healthy life styles
- employment and training support
- emotional support for parents and children during Covid -19
Our food bank is open for families with children under 5. The service is a delivery service and families should not travel to the Children’s Centre to collect food. If you are struggling to get food please contact your health visitor, social worker, or other professional working with your family or text the ParentLine 07507331296. We may be able to deliver essential items to you.
Face to face midwifery appointments are available for clients at the following Children's Centres:
- North Portslade
Please discuss this with your midwife or the Children’s Centre reception staff.
