What the Multiply Adult Numeracy Programme is

The Multiply adult numeracy programme is a range of new intensive and free flexible maths courses targeted at people without level 2 maths. These courses could be the first step towards a Maths Functional Skills qualification.

Multiply aims to help people:

  • improve their ability to understand and use maths in daily life, home, and work.
  • make more sense of the facts in the media
  • improve numeracy skills specific to a line of work.

They offer tailored options including:

  • free personal tutoring
  • digital training
  • flexible courses that fit around people’s lives and tailored to meet specific needs.
  • supporting learners to progress into employment and further education

Multiply is a priority of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF). It supports the governments Levelling Up mission. By 2030, the mission aims to have significantly increased the number of adults completing high-quality skills training.

The Department of Education has allocated over £900,000 Brighton and Hove to improve the functional numeracy skills of adults.
