At Pavilion, we provide high quality care and learning in a secure, stimulating environment. We are well established and been operating for over 40 years. Our well qualified and experienced staff are skilled in meeting children';s individual needs. Children are able to follow their interests and enjoy a wide variety of activities based around the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to develop their skills through play and exploration.

Our environment
We are a pack away setting and staff create amazing new learning environments every day. We have a secure garden and decking area that the children enjoy throughout the day. We recognise the importance of outdoor play and provide lots of exciting and fun activities to choose and explore. We have a mud kitchen, bug hotel and areas for digging and growing vegetables. We take the children for walks around the local area and visit the neighbouring primary school regularly

We have a wealth of experience in our team and well qualified staff who are skillled in meeting children's individual needs.
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
We are inclusive and cater for children with a variety of additional needs. We have a fully qualified Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator and staff who are experienced in caring for children with additional needs. The setting is support by BHISS (Brighton & Hove Inclusion Support Service) and children have small group interventions and one to one support.
Inclusion
When required we have support from the Ethnic Minority Achievement Service (EMAS) and bilingual support.
Food
Parents are asked to provide a packed lunch (if their child is staying for lunch) and a piece of fruit for snack times in the morning and afternoon.
Flexible, emergency and occasional childcare
Ad-hoc sessions may be booked subject to availability for children already attending the nursery. We will consider each request for occasional or emergency childcare on an individual basis, subject to availability.
Transport Options
We are located in North Portslade.The local number 1 and 1a buses stop in Chalky Road and run a regular service daily. There are parking spaces next to the Pavilion building for dropping off and collecting children.
Opening Times
We are open 38 weeks of the year. Term Time only.
Weekdays 8am to 4pm.
Funded places, session times and fees
There are now more ways than ever to reduce your childcare costs. You can benefit from a wide range of funding options depending on your circumstances and the age of your children. To find out more you can visit the Childcare Choices website
We welcome children with funded places including all 3 and 4 year olds. Two year olds with parents in receipt of eligible benefits or tax credits are entitled to funded places - find out if you are eligible and apply online.
Three and four year olds whose parents work can get 30 hours free childcare - check your eligibility.
Funded Places
Pavilion Pre School we offer EYFE funded hours term-time only (38 weeks per year) 15 hours per week for all 3&4 year olds and eligible 2 year olds, and 30 “extended” hours per week if you have a valid 30 hour code for your child.
Funded hours can be taken in any of our full or half day sessions to a maximum of 15 or 30 (with a code) hours per week
Pre-School Fees from 1 April 2022
- £34.50 - for full day, 9am to 3pm
- £17.25 - for morning session, 9am to midday
- £17.25 - for afternoon session midday to 3pm
- £5.75 - hourly rate (additional optional extra hours 8am to 9am, midday to 1pm, 3pm to 4pm)
Meals, nappies and wipes are to be provided by parents and are not included in the fees.
If you wish to withdraw your child from their place here at Bright Start, we require one month's notice in writing.
