TAKEPART at the Level
A city's celebration of active lifestyles for all!
Join us on the Level for a fantastic free event offering you a chance to have a go at a huge array of family friendly ways to lead an active lifestyle in the city! With over 70 different free activities to choose from, this event celebrates activities for all ages and all abilities.
Discover great activities from across the city – How will you TAKEPART?
Every group and activity showcased runs in the city all year round, so its a great chance to try some thing new, enjoy an activity you used to do, or simply find out what is available across Brighton & Hove.
Join in workshops and challenges, watch demonstrations and performances or speak to coaches, instructors and fitness experts.

The Dance Zone:
Showcasing great community dance groups for all ages and abilities and musical tastes across the city. Starting with a free FUNKFIT warm up (Funk soul and Disco - suitable for all ages/beginners) at 12 noon, led by our stage host and legendary dancer JP Omari, the Performance stage plays host to performances from over 30 local dance groups performing Samba, Flamenco, Street, Contemporary and much more
Join in a Brazilian Style Carnival Procession at 12:30pm! Wear your favourite sports gear (if you like) and join in Samba inspired procession around the park celebrating active lifestyles
Alongside performances there will be free workshops to try Tai Chi, Z-energy, Capoeira, inclusive dance for all abilities and lots more. We'll be releasing the full Dance Zone schedule at the end of May!
The Ping Zone:
Who loves Ping Pong? Join in fun activities, free play, and other fun organised by the amazing Brighton Table Tennis Club - the country's first "Club of Sanctuary" and discover what makes the club such a special part of Brighton & Hove's sporting landscape. All bats and balls provided!
Freedom Leisure Fitness Zone:
Join in activities for all the family and talk to the team from Freedom Leisure to discover huge range of different classes, facilities and opportunities they provide for children and adults in the city.
The Yoga Zone
Supported by Brighton Yoga Foundation this zone is the perfect opportunity to find out more about yoga in the city, talk to instructors and join in free beginner workshops running through out the day.
The Outdoor Zone:
Take on the climbing wall or discover a range great opportunities to get active outdoors including Ultimate Frisbee, Calisthenics, Bush Craft, and more!
The Ball Sports Zone:
Bats, balls, racquets, clubs and goals posts! Join in host of special activities run by Albion in the Community, try your hand at Golf with Mytime Active, and join in a special programme of demos and tasters run by Brighton Rugby Club (12noon, 2:30pm) , Sussex Thunder American Football (12:50pm and 3:20pm) and Hove Girls Rugby (1:40pm and 4:10pm). Plus lots more!
The Healthy Lifestyles Zone:
Your one stop shop for healthy lifestyles information and support in the city. Talk to our friendly team for information and advice on getting more active, eating well, losing weight, stopping smoking, reducing alcohol or making other changes to improve your health.
We'll be offering free health and lifestyle checks through out the day alongside fun family friendly activities to get you moving. We're delighted to be working with weight management specialists Beezee Bodies alongside a range of other organisations supporting people in the city. Come and say hello!
Martial Arts Zone:
Showcasing a range of martial arts including Aikido, Kung Fu, Judo, Tai Chi. Watch demonstrations or join in workshops and "have a go" activities and talk to local instructors to find out more about each style and the philosophy behind each style.
The Circus Zone:
Watch performances and demonstrations before channeling your inner acrobat and join in free beginner activities provided by the Circus Project. Alternatively find out how much hula-hooping fun you can have with Dreamspin Hoopdance and LiveLoveHoop!
Skate & BMX Zone:
Join in free beginner skateboarding lessons (ages 4+, all equipment provided), or enjoy the spectacle as local riders take part in a mini ramp jam with prizes for best "tricks" on the day.
The Active Travel Zone:
Traveling actively, such as walking, cycling or taking the bus, is one of the easiest ways to make being active part of our everyday lives. People who travel actively have better health, are less stressed and save money, so it’s good for everyone! At the Active Travel Zone at this year’s TAKEPART festival, you can get advice and support to help you walk, cycle or get the bus to work, for family trips, or just to get around the city. You can take a look around The Big Lemon’s first solar-powered bus, kids can learn how walking to school can make them SMILE and there’s also the chance to find out how to use the fantastic new Brighton Bike Share scheme.
Brighton & Hove Buses and Healthwalks will be there, as well as the council’s Travel Planning Team and there will be a host of fun activities and competitions. Look out too for our brand-new Active Travel Infographics, which give essential advice, facts and ideas to help you make positive travel choices.
Water Sports Zone:
Discover what fun can be had in on or under the water around Brighton & Hove, including kayaking, diving, and other maritime activities!
Healthy Choice Food Zone:
If you work up an appetite there's a great range of healthy food choices available at the event. All caterers, including the park cafe are part of the Healthy Choice Scheme. We pleased to be working with Tomato, Dolce & Salato, Dos Mas, Fil Fil, and French Revolution to help make eating out at this event healthier and tastier!.
Accessibility at this event:
All activities at the event are free, suitable for beginners and open to all ages. Click here for information about getting to and from the Level. The Level is one of our disabled access parks. Due to the nature of the event location please be aware activities take place on grassed areas.
A BSL Sign Language Interpreter will be supporting our event host JP Omari on the performance stage. A quieter space (with a hearing loop) is also available for those who may need this to communicate more effectively with people on the day. If you wish to use this please contact our team in the Healthy Lifestyles Zone.
