Information about sustainable drainage systems (SuDS)
We’re working with The Aquifer Project (TAP) and schools to transform under-used play areas into rain gardens.
Rain gardens are also known as sustainable drainage systems, or SuDS. They are a nature-based solution that reduces flooding, cleans water and increases biodiversity.
They improve air quality on school grounds and provide fantastic learning opportunities, supported by the city’s Our City, Our World environmental education programme.
In Brighton & Hove, we’ve completed rain gardens at Carden and Moulsecoomb Primary Schools.
Find out more about SuDS in schools on the TAP website.
