Funding and management

The Wild Park rainscape was started by:

  • The Aquifer Project (TAP)
  • a group of local water experts from our flood risk team
  • the Environment Agency
  • Southern Water
  • the South Downs National Park Authority
  • the University of Brighton

It was co-ordinated by The Living Coast UNESCO Biosphere. 

TAP secured £2.4m funding from the National Highways Environment and Wellbeing Fund for the rainscape. Find out more about The Aquifer Project.

Brighton & Hove City Council led the construction, and the contractor was Mackley, a local civil engineering company.

Community engagement was led by the Trust for Developing Communities.
