About
Based at Bevendean Primary School, the Specialist Provision for Deaf Children offers supported access to mainstream primary education in line with our inclusion policy.
Who the Specialist Provision is for
Children who come to the provision have a significant degree of deafness and delayed communication and language development. These pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or are undergoing a Statutory Assessment.
The Specialist Provision for Deaf Children consists of two large and well-equipped interconnected rooms, including a playroom offering a quiet space for one-to-one and small group work. Many of the classrooms in the school are acoustically treated and have sound field systems. The school hall also has a sound field system.
The Specialist Provision for Deaf Children offers daily specialist intervention and in-class support from Teachers of the Deaf and teaching assistants. There's also weekly on-site support from a specialist Speech and Language therapist.
