YMCA Dialogue is a charity offering free counselling and therapy to children and young people.
We work in a wide range of schools, including:
- mainstream infant, junior and primary schools
- mainstream secondary schools and 6th-form colleges
- special needs schools
- free schools and academies
- independent schools
YMCA Dialogue also delivers the Children and Young People's section of the Brighton & Hove Wellbeing Service.
We offer several different types of support for children and young people aged 4 years old and over, including:
- counselling
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
- online counselling - e-wellbeing
- groupwork
- canine-assisted therapy
- drama therapy
- play therapy
- community-based support - Mind the Gap
We have counsellors available who specialise in working with children and young people who are:
- autistic or have a learning disability
- black and minority ethnic (BME)
- lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or intersex (LGBTQI+)
Young people can find support and information on our digital wellbeing website, e-wellbeing.
We also work closely with the Virtual School, social workers, and foster carers, to support children in care. This includes therapy for children who are moving towards adoption.

To get support from Dialogue outside of school, you can self-refer to the Brighton & Hove Wellbeing Service. Complete an online self-referral form or phone 0300 002 0060 to ask for a paper form..
Alternatively, you can ask your GP or social worker to refer you.

Costs
We offer free counselling and therapy through schools and the Brighton & Hove Wellbeing Service.
Our support for children in care is funded for individual children in agreement with the Virtual School or social worker.
