Children's audiology

Assessment and management of children's hearing (aged 0 to 16)

Our service specialises in assessment and management of children's hearing. We work with children and young people aged 0 to 16.

We also monitor some children's hearing. For example, if you have a condition that means your hearing might get worse.

If a child or young person in Brighton & Hove needs a hearing aid or cochlear implant, we can refer them for this. Sometimes a child may need to be assessed further, for example by the Ear Nose and Throat service. We can refer your child if this is the case.

We offer advice and counselling to children with hearing difficulties and their parent carers. We can also help with management techniques for:

  • tinnitus

  • hyperacusis

  • auditory processing disorder

We can provide information and advice about communication tactics and strategies.
