Find out what to do if you get a court summons because you have not paid your Council Tax.
Costs you may recieve
If you get a court summons because you haven't paid your Council Tax, we'll add the court costs to your Council Tax bill.
To avoid further costs, you'll need to set up a Direct Debit instalment plan before the court date.
If you can pay the outstanding balance in full
You can make a payment to settle the outstanding balance using our 24/7 online payment service.
If you pay the outstanding balance in full including the costs, no further action will be taken.

If you can not pay the outstanding balance in full
If you can not pay the outstanding balance in full, you may be able to stop the summons going to court by:
- setting up a Direct Debit to clear the remaining balance by the end of the current tax year
- making a minimum part payment (first use the form on the link above, which will tell you how much this should be)
