Whistleblowing
Find out how to raise concerns about serious wrongdoing, and how the council will respond.
What whistleblowing is
Whistleblowing is the act of reporting certain types of wrongdoing.
We are committed to the highest standards of openness, honesty, integrity and accountability.
We encourage those working for the council, its members, and members of the community to express their concerns when they think there may be something seriously wrong regarding any council activity.
As a whistleblower, you’re protected by law. You should not be treated unfairly or lose your job because you raised concerns about wrongdoing.
You can raise your concern at any time about an incident that:
- happened in the past
- is happening now
- you believe will happen in the near future
Make a whistleblowing complaint
To raise a concern, you can fill in a whistleblowing report form. You can also raise a concern in a few other ways. Find more information about how to raise a concern in our whistleblowing policy.
Our whistleblowing policy explains:
the types of concerns covered

We hope that our policy provides confidence that your concerns will be listened to, and that the council will take quick action to investigate and deal with concerns appropriately.
