Results of the Wish ward by-election on Thursday 8 December 2022 

Following the death of Garry Peltzer Dunn, an election was held on Thursday 8 December 2022 to fill the vacancy of councillor in the Wish ward of Brighton & Hove City Council 

Bella Sankey was elected as councillor for Wish ward. 

Results

The results were as follows:

•    MOUNTAIN, Patricia Ann - UK Independence Party - 34 votes
•    REVELL, Peter Alan - Conservative Party - 756 votes
•    SANKEY, Bella - Labour Party - 1,519 votes
•    STONE, Stewart Malcolm - Liberal Democrats - 96 votes
•    SYKES, Ollie - Green Party - 190 votes

The turnout was 34.2%, out of an electorate of 7,593.

Who could vote 

To vote in the Wish ward by-election in December, you had to:

  • be registered to vote in the ward
  • be a British, Commonwealth or EU citizen  
  • 18 years or over on polling day  
  • not be legally excluded from voting

  • Thursday 3 November to Friday 11 November at 4pm (between 10am and 4pm on working days) – delivery of nomination papers 
  • Tuesday 22 November at 11.59pm - last day to register to vote 
  • Wednesday 23 November April at 5pm - last day for us to receive your postal vote application or to make changes to existing postal or proxy votes 
  • Wednesday 30 November at 5pm - last day for us to receive your proxy vote application 
  • Thursday 8 December, 7am to 10pm - polling day 
  • Friday 9 December - counting of votes and results
