A poll to elect the Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner took place on Thursday 2 May 2024.
Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner results
Katy Bourne was re-elected as the Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner.
The results were announced by the Police Area Returning Officer (PARO) at Brighton & Hove City Council on Sunday 5 May.

The turnout was 24.49%.
Brighton & Hove is one of the local council areas that voted in the election. It's the total combined votes across Sussex (table above) that decides who is elected as the Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner.
Who could vote
To vote in these elections you must be:
- registered to vote by Tuesday 16 April 2024
- a resident of Brighton & Hove or a registered Crown servant or service elector
- age 18 or over on polling day
- a British, Irish, or EU citizen, or a citizen of a Commonwealth country

- Wednesday 17 April, 5pm – was the last day for us to receive your postal vote application
- Wednesday 17 April, 5pm – was the last day to cancel your postal vote

- Wednesday 24 April, 5pm – was the last day for us to receive your Voter Authority Certificate application

- Thursday 2 May – polls were open from 7am to 10pm
- Sunday 5 May – ballot papers were counted, with results expected in the evening

The total number of polling station electors who applied for, but at least initially were not issued with, a ballot paper (VIDEF 3a + 4a) was 183
Of these, 112 later returned with accepted ID and were issued with a ballot paper (VIDEF 3b + 4b).
71 were not issued with a ballot paper by close of poll.

- 99.7% were able to vote on 2 May
- 0.3% applied for but were refused a ballot paper by the close of poll
- 0.7% applied for, but were initially refused, a ballot paper
61.2% of the electors initially refused a ballot paper later returned with accepted ID and were issued with a ballot paper.
