Following the the resignation of Cllr Les Hamilton, an election was held on Thursday 11 January 2024 to fill the vacancy of councillor in the South Portslade ward of Brighton & Hove City Council.
Josh Guilmant was elected as councillor for South Portslade ward.
Results
The results were as follows:
- BOOTH, Danny John - Green Party candidate: 149
- FRANKS , Benjamin James - Conservative Party Candidate: 246
- GILLESPIE, Jamie Rutherford - Independent: 44
- GUILMANT, Joshua Luke Collins (Josh) - Labour Party: 874
- MAPLES, David Timothy - Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition: 53
- MCKINLEY FITCH, Georgia Arabella - Democratic Liberation Party: 49
- RIST, Kenneth Lloyd - Liberal Democrats: 186
The turnout was 21.8%.

To vote in these elections you needed to be:
- registered to vote by Thursday 21 December 2023 - find out how to register to vote
- a resident of South Portslade or a registered Crown servant or service elector in respect of an address in South Portslade
- aged 18 or over on polling day
- a British, Irish, or EU citizen, or a citizen of a Commonwealth country
