The local elections took place on Thursday 7 May 2015. The Rottingdean Parish Council election will elect nine parish councillors to represent the community of Rottingdean on their parish council. Standing in the Rottingdean Parish Council election
To stand as a Parish Councillor you must be:
- at least 18 years old
- A British citizen, an qualifying Commonwealth citizen, or a citizen of any other member state of the European Union
- Meet at least one of the following four qualifications:
- You are, and will continue to be, registered as a local government elector in the parish
- You have occupied as owner or tenant any land or other premises in the parish during the whole of the preceding 12 months
- Your main or only place of work during the 12 months has been in the parish
- You have lived in the parish, or within 4.8km of it, during the whole of the preceding 12 months

You and your campaigners should also look at the Electoral Commission's Code of Conduct for Campaigners (PDF 226KB), which outlines what is, and isn't allowed at polling stations and in the community in the lead-up to polling day.
Nominations
To become a validly nominated candidate, you need to submit a completed set of nomination forms to the Returning Officer before 4pm on 9 April. Nomination packs will be available from Electoral Services in February.
