This review proposed changes to polling districts and polling places. We held a public consultation from 1 October to 31 October 2023. The changes to polling district boundaries were agreed in November 2023, and were incorporated into the revised register published on 1 December 2023.
Changes to polling places resulting from this review were agreed by the Strategy, Finance and City Regeneration Committee on 25 January 2024.
Why we held a review
A significant review took place in 2022 following the Local Government Boundary Commission for England’s Review of the city’s wards. The 2023 review follows the scheme devised in 2022, making changes only when necessary.
This review was necessary due to:
- the statutory requirement for a review every 5 years since 1 October 2013. The review must start on 1 October and be completed within 16 months
- the need to make changes to parliamentary boundaries in Brighton & Hove following the Boundary Commission for England (BCE) Review of July 2023
What has changed
You can view our consultation document for further information on our initial proposals.
Following our public consultation, these changes have been agreed:
- Wellington House replaces Elm Grove Primary School as the polling station for polling district PHEY
- Hollingdean Community Centre replaces St Richard’s Church Hall as the polling station for PHFX
- the polling district boundaries in Woodingdean have been amended. An interactive map of the agreed polling district boundaries is available here.
